Integrated Masters in the Portuguese Context
This paper describes and analyses a concrete experience of the introduction of integrated masters by a Portuguese University. The Portuguese legislation allows not only the three-cycle structure but also integrated masters. Based on implementation analysis we address aspects, such as the design of study programmes, credits and student workload, mobility and rationales stemming from the integrated masters. Uncovering the elements behind the proposals of integrated masters we will shed light on whether or not the integrated masters are only used as a way to maintain the old structure, or whether they are really a new concept.
