From International to Multinational Universities

This article describes how institutions have gone and can go beyond the more conventional internationalisation. It introduces the concept of multinationalism based on transnational provision - including franchises, validations, twinning, branch campuses, joint ventures and online/blended programmes of higher education. Finally it indicates the stage beyond multinationalism: creating a truly global university.
