In this article the author examines some of the most important developments in the changing landscapes of higher education around the world and their likely trajectories. Internationalisation is situated as one of the five disruptive forces facing higher education, changing business models, traditional methods of collaboration and knowledge production, and driving further change in academia. The author concludes by offering a number of prognoses regarding developments over the coming decades in increasingly mutli-faceted, internationalised and networked higher education institutions.
