Language Policy and the Internationalisation of Higher Education Institutions in Finland
The Case of the University of Helsinki
The Strategy for the Internationalization of Finnish Higher Education Institutions for 2009-2015 has recently been published. The article discusses the contents of the strategy and the language policy that the strategy implies. A case study of the University of Helsinki highlights the language policy and practices of a large multidisciplinary university regarding English-taught programmes, the position of national languages, and the support services for internationalization provided by the University’s Language Centre.
