Student Mobility in European Higher Education
This article focuses on student mobility from an institutional and individual perspective. It discusses the role of mobility within the Bologna process, how institutions can plan for sustainable outward and inward student mobility, issues concerning the mobility of doctoral students and the incorporation of international work placements into the curriculum. It does not discuss statistical data or staff mobility. The article stresses the responsibility of higher education institutions to promote student mobility, which is seen as essential for institutions which wish to be genuinely international. This mobility should involve all parts of the institution, apply to all levels of study, be integrated and be fully recognised.
