The Management of Internationalisation in Universities
The theme of this paper is that internationalisation, if defined comprehensively, is a challenge to those managing universities. It affects every single staff member and will have an impact on every student. It will require the oversight of a Vice Rector and various new networks and mechanisms to pull together and co-ordinate international activities. International partnerships are central to most strategies and these will need active support from a partnership office. In particular, universities need to agree their criteria for selecting partners and then to carry out rigorous academic and financial due diligence.
