Internationalization, VE/COIL and the Norway Panorama Initiative
For decades, student mobility programs have been the hallmark of internationalization efforts in higher education as students travelled abroad to gain experiences and skills that prepare them for an increasingly global workplace. More recently, internationalization at home strategies have been developed, which provide more inclusive opportunities, particularly for students who do not have the means to travel abroad. A global learning pedagogy that has gained popularity is Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). In this paper, we discuss our experience with the AAC&U’s Norway Panorama Initiative, COIL collaboration, and best practices for scaling up internationalization.
