The use of international competences in Higher Education
Perspectives from international pathway students in the Netherlands
The development of international competences within the Higher Educational field in the Netherlands has emerged as a key method in enabling the development of graduate attributes. This article explores the perspective of International Pathway students on the impact of the Nuffic International Competence framework on their educational journey. The findings show strong support for the relevance and benefit of international competences in the context of the students’ educational journey and career, with marginally less support for their importance to an intercultural society. These findings require the positive economic and intercultural benefits of an internationalised university experience to be clearly signposted to students.
