Certification of Educational Recruitment Agencies – A Model from the U.S.

Educational recruitment agencies play a critical role in assisting higher education institutions to recruit international students. This article begins with a brief historical overview of commission-based recruitment in the United States. The authors then describe the AIRC certification process, which is designed to help safeguard the interests of students and enrolling institutions. Finally, implications for non-U.S. higher education institutions are shared.
