The internationalisation of the Iranian higher education system

The trend towards the globalisation of higher education forces governments and higher education institutions to develop strategies to face this challenge. The present work explores the situation of the higher education system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, an important country and regional power located between the Middle East and Asia. The international relations and partnerships of important Iranian universities today and their future ambitions towards international cooperation are surveyed. Thematic fields are management of internationalisation, applied tools of international cooperation, challenges, obstacles, as well as regional priorities of international activities.
