Practical implementation and strategic development of a European University Alliance – challenges and successes

FORTHEM Alliance is a European University Alliance, established as one of the pilot alliances in 2019, and now preparing itself for the next four-year period with the European funding. The results and plans of a separate Horizon 2020 project will be merged to the activities in 2024. For the enlargened alliance both in number of partner universities and the covered actions, a new governance structure has been set up to ensure the operations on the alliance-level. This article discusses the lessons learned during the first funding period as well as some insights for the future.
