The Internationalization of Career Services
Supporting the Labor Market Integration of International Students in Germany and a Conceptual Framework for International Career
Universities have traditionally been gauged by their academic, research, and teaching activities. However, during the last two decades, student services have played a vital role in student recruitment, internationalization at home, and institutional competitiveness. Simultaneously, increasing numbers of international students have enrolled primarily in English-medium degree programs in non-Anglophone countries. While many international students are driven by the prospect of post-study employment in their host country, in many countries career services specifically for international students have only recently emerged. In this article, examples of career service programming for international students in Germany is presented and a conceptual framework for international career services is proposed.
