Languages and Internationalisation of French-Speaking Higher Education Institutions
Perspectives, Challenges and Responses
Based on the essential scientific works on internationalisation of higher education, the article will emphasise how internationalisation is a moving concept and a reality that is difficult to apprehend due to the diversity resulting in the academic world. It will focus on the language issue related to internationalisation, more particularly how the omnipresence of English impacts French-speaking institutions in their efforts for being more international. It will analyse how an initiative launched by the Université du Québec à Montréal has led to the informal grouping of international officers and how it is bringing new perspectives for the internalisation of French-speaking higher education institutions.
